Reminder: Check with BBB before securing San Diego air duct cleaning

While many San Diego residents are doubtless aware of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the protections it affords consumers through its advocacy and research, few take the due diligence to check with this company before making a major purchase.

This consumer plight was profiled by the organization in a recent blog post where it warned that a fraudulent air duct cleaning company was doing less-than-satisfactory business in Austin, Texas.

The BBB says that so far it has received complaints from consumers in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio about a company that goes by various names, including Austin City Air Ducts, AC Air Ducts and ANS Air Ducts. The company was even reportedly doing business through social couponing services online to attract customers.

The focal point of the article was the story of Jessica Larson, a homeowner who contacted the company after noticing mold growth in her air ducts. After its representatives visited her home and performed treatment, she was assured the issue would be gone within 48 hours.

However, it went unresolved, despite her $900 investment.

“I called them four different times,” Larson told the BBB. “They only answered once and the receptionist said a manager would call me.”

This event serves to highlight the importance of research when securing any home service, regardless of your location.
